Impressions
Okay, so I've finally watched the fifth Harry Potter movie. Rick and I screamed "Rape!" through most of it. But then, after having watched canon be brutally raped (repeatedly) during the third movie, one develops somewhat of a tolerance level for this sort of travesty.

Overall, my impression is "Meh." Not worthless, but not fantastic, either. I hated the supposed Black Family Tapestry, which is now crappy wallpaper, apparently. And I noticed how Narcissa was once again never shown, making me wonder who exactly will be picked for that role for the next, if at all, or if that plot point will be glossed over in a massive way.

Voldemort looked... dare I say it... geeky? I wonder, does he secretly carry a Mensa membership card in his pocket? And Grawp? Now come on, people. If that's a pureblood giant, and Hagrid is a halfblood, I don't even want to contemplate the union between Hagrid's parents. It's just too squicky. A human father... who wore a life preserver, perhaps, so as not to fall in? Eww.

Anyway, I must squee over Lucius. How can I not? Another squee is that so many people are taller than Daniel Radcliffe. Yeah, baby! But let's talk more about Lucius, shall we? Rawr.

Now I just need for Resident Evil: Extinction to come out on DVD. (I've heard it's not all that, but I don't care. It's a must have for my collection.)

I agree about Grawp he does leave one buried in really squicky thoughts. And Lucius is very luscious in this one.

Re: Narcissa - they've cast Helen McCrory who's done a ton of stuff but nothing that I recognize. Well apart from 2nd whore in Interview With the Vampire. I mean who can forget 2nd whore? She's such a pivotal character.

I confess that I really like Ralphdemort when he's at King's Cross in his snazzy black suit. But I'm a bit teched in the head so that prolly doesn't amount to much.

Er, I'm really not thrilled by that choice based on looks, but who knows? I shall go to my happy place and stare at my own Sims 2 version of Narcissa, yes.

When the Kings Cross scene got to that point I said in my best announcer voice, "And now, Voldemort modeling the latest in Armani fashions!"

Narcissa's absence...

I am assuming she is gone, so that the annoying wife is out of the way... leaving the field clear for some luscious Lucius/Harry loving. His interaction with Harry in the DoM had me squeeing.

I actually thought Umbridge was the best character in the movie... although I must admit, I too thought Voldie looked hot in a suit... If I was Harry, I would have ditched the irritating Gryffindors in a blink and followed Voldie instead!

I wish you hadn't added that bit about Hagrid's dad. BAD mental image!

I'm glad to see you here at IJ. LOVE your work!

The way Umbridge was played was mostly good, though I didn't like her Hem-Hem thing. She did come across to me as being evil and nasty in the right way. I just don't think she looked the part feature-wise, but that's a tall order unless you want to sacrifice ability or shell out bucketloads for special makeup.

Someone pointed out who was cast for Narcissa upcoming, and I have to say I'm pretty Meh on that so far. I guess we'll see how she cleans up with blond hair.

I dunno... I look at the Voldy from earlier (like what I used in my Oh Snap! icon) versus what's in this movie and can't quite get it. He looks different, and I swear his ears stick out more. He's not as smexy to me in OotP. Some of the movie stills just make me cringe. I'll just stay in my happy place with earlier images, ya? I have to. :)

Voldemort curses my dysfunctional appliances... Avanda Kadavra!

LOVE the icon!

My kids got me a Voldemort figure for my birthday, which is truly awesome, because they know I love the evil characters in HP best. It's the just-risen-in-the-graveyard moment. You know what? You are right, it was sexier.

You can even look up his robes and see that a. he is a traditional wizard, and b. he is a boy.

When I am frustrated by something in my apartment, he curses it for me.

If you'd like to see him in all his evil glory, here is a link:

Me & Voldy all the way, baby!

That's actually one of the best (if not the best) action figures they've got there from what I can see (now that I've wasted five minutes snagging images from Amazon).
