So It Goes
Returned from our Disney/Universal trip Thursday evening.

1. Shin splints suck.
2. Unseasonably hot May weather sucks, a lot.

The highlights:

1. While having a ham & cheese croissant from the pâtisserie in "France" at Epcot, I was astounded to see a woman take a photograph of her... crème brûlée.
2. While having a ham & cheese croissant from a café in Islands of Adventure, we made "friends" with one extremely persistent and insistent duck, and two small birds. Meaning, we fed them, because they wouldn't go the hell away until we did.
3. We nearly witnessed the mating of two lizards at Universal Studios, but the female fled the scene. The male then tried a different female, but she also fled.
4. We were rained out of Universal almost 2.5 hours before the park closed.
5. I have a slightly sunburned nose (I bought a hat the next day at Universal, naturally), sunburned neck, and sunburned arms.
6. I broke a nail.
7. There is now photographic evidence that I have a father (because, you know, he's usually the one taking the pictures, but Rick was all like, "No way, man, gimme the camera and YOU get your ass over there.").
8. I got a single blister, which I can't even feel and doesn't bother me.

Rec: This one is a bit strange. There are lots of cliché elements, but that's all right here. The plotting is fairly deep, actually, and there are some surprises which I thought were interesting. Plenty of betrayal. One thing I've noticed that bugs me is that in places this gets disgustingly sappy and I was afraid at times I might go into a sugar coma. Also, Harry is waaaaay dominant in this, like the stereotypical "I am Alpha, damn it!" werewolf dominant (even if Harry isn't a werewolf).

Still, it's really long so you can spend quite some time reading it, even if you are like me and skip over the sugary parts.

Rec: Granted, my first reaction to hearing Harry/Albus is to make an awful face, mainly because canon!Dumbledore tends to upset me, but I thought I'd give this a shot. I like that Harry uses his mixed bag of skills to get on with things and make a life for himself, and I am finding his interactions with people at Hogwarts to be quite amusing, really, so I am enjoying this so far. Enough that I wish there was more of it already.
