The World Has Officially Come to an End

Rick came home today with a Wii. He's been playing "sports" games ever since, and he's even breaking a sweat (playing boxing for the moment). Ah, no, he's moved on to baseball and has been complaining about the lack of legs to run on for the little Wiible people. (And he absolutely sucks at the table tennis game.) I made sure when he made his Mii that the little dude had that cocky smirk on his face. Just had to have it.

On the plus side, he found out that the Wii will play Gamecube titles, so long as you get a controller (and card), so I now own a copy of Chibi-Robo. :) He's so freakin' adorable it hurts. No, I haven't played it yet.... Hopefully a little later this evening, when I may be feeling human (I hope). Rick told me he felt like he was buying gay porn bringing Chibi-Robo up for purchase, which I thought was hilarious. Even the dude at the store said it was a fun game.

I am still in pain, pain bad enough to bring me to tears, and it takes a lot to do that—I've cried more in the past week and a half due to pain than I have in the last ten years. I cried so hard earlier I ended up tossing my cookies (could have been coincidence, though, I guess). I am so sick and tired of being in pain.

I have an appointment tomorrow to have a mole removed, and I'm gonna ask Dr Person if there's some kind of muscle relaxant or something he can prescribe, because a lot of the time Doan's just doesn't cut it. I've been experimenting with gentle stretches, very recently, in the hopes that maybe the reason the muscles are going into spasms left, right, and sideways is just from lack of real movement. I dunno. The Mineral Ice is an interesting distraction, but I can't say that it's really helping in any meaningful way, which sucks. At least it's waaaaay easier to apply than Icy Hot.

Still, I'm taking the generic Claritin... still seeing a decided lack of "normal" headaches, which is still incredibly and exceptionally welcome in my life. I am cautiously optimistic that this will continue. I continue to feel stuffy, but you know...? Stuffy + lack of headache = win.

Rec Updates

At the present time there are eight fics rec'd under Miscellaneous Game-Related. So far this covers stories from Final Fantasy VII and VIII, plus Suikoden II.

(Yeah, I'm still wading through game fics, and it's pretty sad how many are sugar high-crack compositions or a shuffling of main characters into a high school setting, and.... Well, or het. Ewww. *sigh*)

Today's Non-Update

Still on the laptop, folks. Still not writing. Still playing games, reading videogame recaps, and generally futzing around. Still wondering exactly how Bella bites the big one. Can't be too obvious, right?

Downloaded and watched an English sub of FF VII: Crisis Core. Interesting, though I wish more of the storyline stuff was added. Didn't quite have the heart to read the game script itself. Kinda bugs me that comment Cessnai makes about not revealing her true name.... Ah, well. On the other hand, allow me a moment of indulgence while I swoon over pixelated cuties again. And I guess Gackt voiced Genesis? I replayed a scene with him just to hear him speak. Didn't hear any music that set off my 'Must Have' sensors, though.

Stopped before the Domo Carrier in Xenosaga Ep. I, after finishing Ep. II. Man, even buffed to the nines, I remember now about the things that bugged me so much about II. Damn difficult to wipe the floor in one fell swoop in that one.

Played a bit of FF X, then wandered off to read my redux version instead. Then I whipped through Star Ocean: Til the End of Time. Now contemplating Suikoden V or FF XII again while reading the latest recap episodes for Grandia II, FF VII, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Part 2.

Babbling

Just a random thought. I've been over at Video Game Recaps again wasting time (I got bored of reading Bastard Operator From Hell [continues here] and 8-Bit Theater, and I already finished 500 strips of The Order of the Stick), and thought to myself, "Self, why do RPG writers always try to force feed a (usually) ludicrous romance down our throats?"

I mean really. Shion is a brain-dead, whiny, self-absorbed entitlement bitch always moping about Kevin (and Allen about Shion), Rinoa is a brain-dead, whiny, self-absorbed entitlement bitch always flinging herself at an obviously gay Squall, Tifa is a breast-surgery-gone-wrong girl always making eyes at an obviously gay Cloud, Yuna is a Mary Sue Deluxe (that I actually like, strangely enough) internally angsting about her ought-to-be-unrequited love for Tidus (who I happen to like, strangely enough), Leena is a brain-dead, whiny, self-absorbed entitlement bitch lusting after Serge for the role of her slave/house-husband... the list goes on.

And then I realized... FF12 is mainly political. I'm not sure I saw any real hints of romance. Well, unless you count the staggeringly obvious chemistry between Vaan and Larsa. *cough*

Seriously, though.

I suppose the horrific ones are offset by the ones that are rather amusing? Like Nina's hilarious stalker love for Flik in Suikoden II? (Then again, that is offset by Eilie's 'thing' for Riou. Very disturbing, as is Nanami's almost incestuous behavior around her "brother.") Or perhaps the hilarity of Millenia's "love" for Ryudo (to offset the saccharine sweetness of a potential Ryudo/Elena)? Dude, really, if you must go for a girl, go for the evil one!

I take it back. I think there was a decided lack of romance in Wild Arms 3, but it's been so long I'm having trouble remembering.

(I'm still hoping for a Prince/Roy pairing, actually, but with long-braid!Prince and better-hair!Roy.)

(Only a semi-rant, so no rant tag.)

(Also, I still have no particular desire to actually write a chapter of anything, sorry.)

ETA: I take it back. I just remembered all the Ashe/Rasler stuff.
